Jeanetta Yvonne Burkins, age 74, of Texarkana, Arkansas, passed away on January 9, 2026, after a courageous, years-long battle with illness.

She was born on October 31, 1951, in Texarkana, Texas, to the late Mildred Henderson and Wilbur Mathis. Jeanetta was a devoted member of Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church and dedicated many years of service as a special education teacher in the Texarkana Arkansas School District, where she touched countless lives with compassion, patience, and care.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Amos “Ace” Mathis and Muriel Marie Mathis.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, R.L. Burkins of Texarkana, Texas; siblings Earline Diane Williams of Texarkana, Texas, and Paula Fulce (Dr. Terence) of Texarkana, Arkansas; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and loved ones.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 16, 2026, from 3:00- 5:00 p.m. at Four States Funeral Home, 601 Pine Street, Texarkana, Texas 75501.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 1121 Phenie Ave, Texarkana, TX 75501, with Pastor Angela Brewster, eulogist.

Burial will follow at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 1001 Kings Highway, Texarkana, Texas, 75501, under the direction of Four States Funeral Home.
