Alexis Brown

Dec 24, 2002 — Sep 19, 2026

Texarkana, A.R.

Alexis Lashay Brown was born on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2002, at Wadley Hospital in Texarkana, Texas, to Natasha Hamilton and Derrick Brown Sr. She weighed 6 pounds, 10 ounces at birth.

We knew she would be a fireball when she snatched a pin from a nurse’s shirt. She came into this world a fighter, battling RSV, and overcame the first of many battles.

From an early age, we always knew when Alexis entered a room because her presence was unmistakable. She was full of joy, laughter, charisma, and a personality that could light up any room. She also had a playful, mischievous side and occasionally found herself in a little trouble, but she always knew exactly where to run when trouble came calling.

Her grandparents—Barbara and Daniel Brown, Sheryl Hamilton, and Emmanuel Alcorn—spoiled her, and she knew she was always safe in their arms. No matter what she had gotten herself into, her grannies and papas were her safe haven, her comfort, her place of refuge, and occasionally her personal ATMs. She was deeply loved, fiercely protected, and cherished by them in a way that made her childhood beautifully unforgettable.

As a teenager, like any other teen, she knew everything! She had an answer for it all, and it was normally dripping with sassiness. She loved to dance and was a member of the Dancing Diamonds. She could hype anyone up—just ask her Uncle Ricky. She was a handful, but as sassy as she was, she was even smarter. She was a good student, earned good grades, and was always a leader, never a follower. She had both beauty and brains.

Alexis graduated from Texas High School. She loved doing hair, and if you needed box braids, she was your girl. That was her hobby—and so was eating. Her Aunt Eva spoiled her with chicken spaghetti anytime she called.

Alexis dreamed of pursuing a career in real estate, but God had another plan for her. She gave birth to her firstborn, Karmello, at 19 years old. At 20, she gave birth to twin girls, KeMora and Azora. At 23, she welcomed Kah’Mazi, whom she affectionately called her “nugget.”

Her children were her world. Alexis was prouder of her babies than she was of any other accomplishment. She loved them dearly, and they often gave her a dose of her own medicine. She spoiled them with love—a mother’s unconditional love.

Lexy had a way of making memories without even trying. She loved hard, laughed loudly, and brought a special kind of energy wherever she went.

She was many things to many people: a daughter, mother, sister, niece, granddaughter, family member, and friend. But to those who truly knew her, Lexy was simply Lexy—BIG LEXX. She was unforgettable, deeply loved, and one of a kind. As she would say, “THAT PART!!”

Her life may have been far too short, but the love she gave, the laughter she shared, and the memories she created will live on in everyone blessed enough to have known her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Karmello Brown Ferguson, age 4; KeMora Brown and Azora Brown, age 3; and Kah’Mazi Brown, age 3 weeks; her goddaughter, Teanna “GG” Shaw; her parents, Natasha Hamilton and stepfather Edward Hendricks, and Derrick Brown Sr. and stepmother Chanelle Brown; her protectors and brothers, Jeremy Hamilton, Nathaniel DeRamcy, MarQuan Hamilton, Derrick Brown Jr., and KaVah’re Adams; her grandparents, Daniel Sr. and Barbara Brown, Sheryl Hamilton and Emmanuel Alcorn, Mildred Hamilton, and Lawanda Adams; her close cousins, Tyiesha George, Deon’te Brown, Shakariya Cooks, Nakita Smith, Shambrica McHenry, Tyrone Hunter, and Tyrie Hunter; her aunts, Eva Brown, Nikia Hamilton, Felicia Hamilton, Jennifer Thomas, Jessica Hamilton, Trisha Hamilton, Kathy Hamilton, and Lakeisha Hawkins; her uncles, Roderick “Roddy” Brown, Daniel “Bird” Brown Jr., Bakari Cooks, Rickey Johnson, Gerald Hamilton, Antwoin Thomas, George Thomas, Terrance Hamilton, and Tevin Adams; her special family, Romashaw “Ro” Aubrey, her godfather, DeAndra “Dee Dee” Hawkins, Shelvon “Black” Jackson, and Pedro Hill; her honorary sisters, Alexis Conkleton, Jiesha Harper, Shauntanita Wright, Keishuna Aldridge, and Josalyn Chatman; and many other loving relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

Lexy did not just leave memories behind; she left pieces of herself in the hearts of everyone who loved her. Her legacy lives on.
